Ways to save on your Disneyland Vacation!
My husband and I are huge Disney fans and try to go a couple times a year. I would like to think we got the hang of it pretty darn good by now. So let me share some of my tips with you to apply to your own trip. Anytime you can save a bit of money on a vacation just makes the dollar stretch so much farther.
First, where are you staying?
It's no secret that everything Disney is spendy including the hotels in/out of the park. You can save a ton of money staying on the outskirts of Orange County and renting a car. Parking at Disneyland is $20 a day and well worth it if you are saving hundreds on your room cost. Also are you travelling with a big family? Instead of renting mutiple rooms for everyone, consider renting an AirBnB home or apartment and getting the whole family under one roof. Again, the further away from the park the cheaper it will be. Renting a car is also a great idea that way you have trasnportation to the store, restaurants etc.
Park tickets, ugh!
So expensive these days! But let me help you. If you plan on going for more then one day you can save a bit of money here too. A one day ticket to one park is $117 (on a regular price day) if you want to park hop its $50 more! So choose one park a day and save $50 each day, each person! That really adds up if you are in a large group or family. Pay attention to Disneylands calendar also, try and plan your visit around off peak times.
How about saving some money once you are there.
Yes! That too! First thing we do when we get into town is hit a grocery store. We buy a case of bottled water and snacks. We take as many bottled waters (unopened) as we can carry in our backpacks into the park. We usually spend about $5 on a case of water. Waters in the park are around $4 each! It's usually hot in California so you will need to drink a bunch of water, might as well save some money doing it. Also you can bring snacks in also unopened. Food is spendy in the park so bring in as much as you can, I have seen people bring soft sided coolers many times.
One last great tip! Do you like to save money on gas? Oh me too!
Great, so before you leave go to your favorite grocery store that earns you gas points. Buy a Disneyland gift card and put the amount of your park tickets on it. You will earn gas points on your gift card purchase and you use that card to buy your tickets at the gate! The last time I did this I saved $1.60 a gallon and ended up saving me $35 in gas! Might as well right?
